Joomla
Joomla is a free and open source content management framework (CMS) based on PHP and MySQL. it employs the Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture and offers many features of the more popular WordPress CMS, including a plug-in architecture and a modular template system. Joomla is used by more than 30 million websites worldwide and has a prolific plugin community who have produced over 10,000 free or low-cost functionality plugins.
We have extensive experience managing Joomla websites, and can help any business develop, integrate, monitor and manage plugins, themes, content and administration of a Joomla website.
We have found Joomla much easier to use than both WordPress and Drupal, and we have deployed it over the years on over 45 websites that wemanage, however Joomla has been hit with numerous hacks, but the development community has not been all that great about tracking and alerting webmasters of Joomla sites to security exploits that have been discovered.
Joomla, we believe, has peaked. Currently WordPress is dominating as the framework of choice for new website development, but given the security issues realted to all CMS systems, the pendulum will either swing back toward custom CMS solutions – like the kind we used to develop before WordPress, Drupal and Joomla took-off, or perhaps we’ll move further into the Software-as-a-Service realm with cloud-based extensions of SalesForce, or PayPal, or E-Bay.
